This is @sarahfostergriggs one month apart from when she first started. Just a few things:
1. These are noob gains. Sarah is no stranger to hard work, but whenever anyone starts at NWF and follows the plan, they tend to lose a few pounds in water weight pretty quick. 💪
2. She put consistent effort towards her goal. Swipe right to see her daily food records. (She missed minimal days). This is just the beginning, and she has a lot of momentum. 💪
3. She has a time specific goal that affects people outside of herself. As a jammer (aka ‘smasher basher badger’) for the @rcr_highrollers , she’s making sure to help her team to the max. 💪
4. Her program is simple. No tricks, just simple progressive overload with primary and accessory lifts. Since athleticism, power, and speed are part of her goals, you can bet she’s doing lots of barbell work and tracking nutrition. 💪
Here’s the thing: Sarah is mixing hard work and fun. The line gets blurry, but that’s good. 💪🤠🕺👌💪
Alex is a paramedic and firefighter that wanted to get a little stronger and a little leaner. 1 year later and he’s the strongest he’s ever been, leaner, and shifting into a hypertrophy phase that’ll be sure to not disappoint. Excited for this guy. #firefighter #thinredline #strongfirefighter
You’re not the only one pouring yourself into this. KEEP. GOING. -
What are YOU working today??
From the Coach’s Corner on our website:
We all see the world through our own lenses, and our lenses distort reality. This means that some of us think we are doing better than we actually are, and vice versa.
You are never doing as good (or as bad) as you think you are.
This is half of my job: helping you see reality in regards to your fitness journey. If you haven't measured your food for 4 weeks then I'll call you on it. (This is the toughest part for most people). Conversely, if you're putting consistent effort towards your goals in all areas, then you will move in the right direction.
One of the biggest things YOU can do is to take a hard look at yourself, your goals, your efforts, and your history. Are you doing the things you thought you would? Does progress look the way you thought it would? Are you willing to push forward with a new version of reality, one where consistent effort is required? I guarantee it's worth it if you dive in.
For those of you that are busting your butts, I see you. Don't beat yourself up, but instead enjoy the journey. Enjoy the strength and health that you have earned.
For those of you that are slacking, I'm calling you out. You have more, and I want it.
You have what it takes.
I don’t know how to say this so I’m just going to say it: we are full. Yes, we could cram in a few more athletes but our effectiveness would go down, and that’s not what we are about. -
We have a couple options as of right now for you: -
1. Sign up for our waiting list on our website.
2. Sign up for online personal training. -
We have FAQ on our website, just click on “get started” to check it out, OR ask in the comments. -
Be well, lift heavy!
This is @arun.basra -
I have so much to say about Arun and his journey so far, but I’ll just tell you the main points:
Arun had his struggles. There was doubt, fear, negative inner dialogue JUST LIKE EVERYONE. What made Arun different was his trust in the process. This was a 10 month process and 50 pounds down. That’s just over 1 pound per week. Slow, right? Let that sink in. -
Arun’s first goal was to lose as much weight as fast as possible. To get that six pack. We talked about sustainability and enjoying the process. With 30 minutes 4x/week, Arun is stronger than he ever has been and leaner than he has been in over a decade. Thirty. Minutes. -
The “why” for Arun was external to begin with. He wanted to show others that he had what it takes to master the self. After a couple months, Arun saw the light that: he started working WITH his body instead of against it. He started training for his own enjoyment. He started paying attention to internal metrics. He started playing an infinite game where there was no winning or losing, just having fun. Arun couldn’t lose after that. His “why” became self love. -
Anybody can lose 10 or 20 pounds in a fad diet. Arun changed his internal map and adapted. No he’s crushing it and we couldn’t be happier for him. -
Last thing I want to say: ANYBODY can do what Arun is doing!!!! I don’t care if you’re old, young, big, little, or WHATEVER, you can do it. It’s my wish that everyone realizes that. -
Got questions? Let’s hear them in the comments! -
Don’t forget to like and share! Thanks friends! 💪🙏💪
We were just rated as “LGBTQ friendly” on Google. This is awesome, but I thought that was like saying “we don’t make human sacrifices anymore”. Super outdated, right? I thought everyone was LGBTQ friendly.
Unfortunately we live in a society where not everyone is friendly, so it becomes that much more important for the friendly ones to let others know “hey. I am safe for you.” To say nothing is inaction, which is unacceptable. That’s why we are saying something.
NWF will always be friendly and welcoming to diversity. We are safe. 🏳️🌈 As long as you have a heartbeat and a willingness to work, we will be very glad to help you.
New! We have a Coach’s Corner. A place where you can get inside Mike’s head and see what he’s thinking when it comes to fitness, motivation, success, and discipline. Just click on ‘blog’ on the website navigation.
We can easily get wrapped up in our own struggles. It’s a human thing to do.
Just don’t forget the magic that happens when we remember our effect on others.
Have an accountability partner. Training with someone helps you to train safer and harder.
Our parking lot was painted this weekend and looks so fresh. Come in and say hi. We’re here to help you!
We are excited to announce that we have a yoga instructor joining us at @salemwellnessgroup ! Through July 31st all yoga classes are free. (Yes you read that right, Free!) Join Carly on Saturdays at 2pm or Sundays at 9am.
Just a reminder: you’re perfect the way you are. Training and exercise is a celebration of our bodies, not punishment for something “bad” we ate. Love yourself like your life depends on it. Because it does. #loveyourself and don’t forget to ENJOY THE SUN!!! ☀️ ☀️ ☀️
Did you know that Mike focuses on his goals just as much as he focuses on providing great training to each and every client? 👏🏻 ✋🏻
Have you tested your Wilks score lately? Here’s our top 5 for men and women!

WHO LOVES LEG PRESSS 🙋♂️🙋♂️🙋♂️ Leg presses are great and we love them, but make sure you get your squats in! (Becky already did her squats today) Yes, they’re tough, but leg press isn’t the best for legs. SQUAT!
With that said, when doing your leg presses make sure than you have control of the weight and you’re going light enough to get solid range of motion. Press with the whole foot one the way up while squeezing the abs and BAM! You’re mostly there.
